Ahmed Mohammed Remanded In Custody After Trying To Burn Banks (Video Inc)

Ahmed Mohammed, 24, of Hull, was arrested after a man, who was carrying what police now say was a machete and a container full of petrol, entered Santander and Barclays just after 1pm on Tuesday. A small fire was started at Santander.

The man fled the scene and sprinted into Hull Paragon Interchange, with one group of youths trying to stop him. Police were eventually able to detain him and have confirmed a Taser was used.

His interpreter translated the words, telling the court Mr Mohammed had said: “My issue is not going to stop, I will continue.

“My life in prison is going to be in danger.”

Ahmed Mohammed was remanded in custody after a hearing, and will now appear in Hull Crown Court next month
