January really does drag, especially if you get paid on the last Friday of each month! So if you have been paid this week, or just fancy watching Arsenal v Manchester United out and about, then our new #FridayNightGrill recommendation is – The Yew Tree in West Bromwich!
Now, since our last visit almost 12 months ago so many things have changed at the Yew Tree, hence the team and I visited again and are happy to make the recommendation (check out our first review of the Yew Tree here).
We have more screens and a new menu with specials and some fantastic drinks offers, be sure to book ahead if you are planning to go and eat, the Yew Tree is no longer a hidden gem, this place gets packed. When you have a live sporting event on, trust me getting a seat may well prove to be difficult and remember this place is big. Contact the Yew Tree on 0121 408 6742
The New Yew Tree Family Platter
The Yew Tree is the first Desi Grill venue to offer a platter with a difference, our group consisted of 5 people and we do like our food, and once we informed about this we were intrigued and impressed.
The meats on offer on the Large Platter are: Crispy chicken, Crispy Prawns, Chicken Tikka, Achari Chicken, Tikka Sheesh Kebab, Chicken Kebab, Chicken wings, Crispy Wings and Fish Pakora!
Choose your chips: Plain, Masala, Sweet Chilli or Crispy Chilli
Then choose your rice: Plain Pilau, Garlic Fried, Lemon Egg Fried or Mushroom Fried
Then finally your naan bread: Plain, Chilli, Garlic, Cheese, Sweet, Garlic and Coriander, Garlic and Cheese or Keema filled.
The whole platter which fed the 5 of us was £29,95 and you know what? It was damn impressive. The addition of the crispy wings is fantastic and more and more venues are now doing these, but the size and quality of platter was something that we were pleasantly surprised with.
If you have a group of you going out and about this weekend and you wish to check out a venue that is family orientated, friendly with a buzzing atmosphere then the Yew Tree gets a big Desi Grill’s thumbs up. And the platter is a must! The menu at the Yew tree now also offers a huge range of freshly made pizza’s if you are going with children or people who just fancy something different.
