Itโ€™s My Opinion – Paltan, As Seen By Raj Bitu Kang

Paltan (2018) ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

I watched the movie Paltan (aka Battalion) by the off chance. I knew it starred Arjun Rampal and I knew what the premise of the film was. I thought it would be an interesting one.

The movie is based on the India-China war in 1962. To be honest, I didn’t know much about the India-China war and thought this would make an interesting watch. Adding to this, is the fact that the movie has been directed by J.P. Dutta, who has given us hits like #border #refugee #LOCkargill ๐Ÿ˜Š. Yes, all war based movies.

Now, for those of you who have watched Border, will know it was hard hitting, well made ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป, had great songs thrown into it ๐ŸŽถ and it also had that added Bollywood touch. Paltan however seemed to be missing those elements. The dialogue seemed a little weak and it lacked that punch which we saw in Border. Or, perhaps I just liked #sunnydeol too much in Border or ๐Ÿ˜.

The movie is shot beautifully ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป where we see the mountains near the India-China borders. The performances were good too. For me, Harshvardhan Rane particularly stood out with his feisty attitude and patriotism ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ. I did however find the Chinese characters annoying and ๐Ÿ™„; there is only so many times that I can hear “Hindi-Chinni Bhai Bhai”. And please don’t get me started on the stone fight ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ.

The music the movie wasn’t the greatest with perhaps a couple of tracks being pleasant to the ears, which is a shame if you compare it with the movie Border. For Border Anu Malik produced some excellent tracks like Sandese Aate Hai, To Chalun, Hamen Jab Se Mohabbat etc.

Overall, this is an easy watch; you won’t be bored watching it but, please don’t expect too much ๐Ÿ˜•.

2 out of 5 stars. Remember, itโ€™s my opinion!
