A paramedic was left fuming after a drunken patient carrying a knife urinated in the back of an ambulance. The incident was thought to have happened at Birmingham’s giant Diwali celebrations in Soho Road, Handsworth, on Sunday night.
Paramedic Dan Conlon, who works for West Midlands Ambulance Service and volunteers for St John Ambulance, said he was “fuming”. Officers said to have witnessed the incident arrested the man while staff from Reflex Bar washed the ambulance.
No-one was being treated inside the unit at the time.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said a 48 year-old man from Small Heath was arrested. He was cautioned for being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
