Ammy Virk certainly is growing his fanbase, and it’s his music, not his social media dramas that are fuelling his rise in popularity, which is refreshing. Ammy Virk is set to star in the Bollywood film ’83’ later this year and now it seems as if Bollywood fans have fallen in love with his song ‘Qismat’.
Ammy Virk’s Punjabi song, Qismat, has over 200 million views online and it continues to garner love from music aficionados, now, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has liked his song and bought its rights for an upcoming film.
“Though I didn’t meet him, the music label told me that Karan sir liked the song and felt that it might work well for one of the situations in his upcoming film. I’m glad he wants to use my song. I wish to meet him,” says Ammy, adding that the kinds of songs he makes are likely to suit Bollywood’s sensibilities.
“Punjabi music is loved across the globe. Since Qismat did well independently, it was embraced by Bollywood. Most of my songs are emotional romantic numbers, so they are likely to suit a few situations in films,” says the singer, adding that he enjoyed working on Qismat.
“It was a great experience. Lyricist Jaani wrote the song, B Praak gave the music and Arwinder Khaira did the music video, which was appreciated, thanks to actress Sargun Mehta. She lit up the song and added spirit to it. With such a strong team backing the number, it was bound to do well. The song was planned overnight,” says Ammy.
