‘Dastaan-E-Miri-Piri’ the animated film based on the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind Sahib which was scheduled for release on June 5th may now be postponed due to the Akal Takht not giving it the ‘OK’. The film has come under scrutiny from certain groups who are opposed to the animated version and has meant that SGPC will now review it prior to release.
Spokesperson for Chhatampeer Production said the objections pointed out by an expert panel had been amended, but it could not be released without Akal Takht’s approval. The panel had submitted its report to SGPC president, Gobind Singh Longowal. Akal Takht Jathedar’s personal assistant Jaspal Singh said the report of the panel would be observed by Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh.
Giani Harpreet Singh is expected to visit Amritsar tomorrow and may take a final call on it.
Eariler, the SGPC panel had pointed out several lapses in the film based and asked the producers to make amends before getting a green signal for its screening. The panel included SGPC member and advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, Sikh intellectual Dr Inderjit Singh Gagoani, Manmohan Singh and Simarjit Singh.
