The retrial of Gurpreet Singh which was due to start on Monday has been postponed. Gurpreet Singh a local businessman from Wolverhampton is accused of murdering his wife at their Wolverhampton home.
Mr Singh is accused of murdering his 38-year-old wife Sarbjit Kaur at their family home in Rookery Lane, Penn, Wolverhampton in February 2018. A jury at Birmingham Crown Court failed to reach a verdict in the original trial.
The postponement has come as new evidence in his defence has been served on the court at the eleventh hour. Judge Melbourne Inman, QC, ruled that the trial if it takes place, is adjourned until next year.
Singh was acquitted in May of offering to pay a would-be hitman £20,000 to kill his previous wife Amandeep Kaur in 2013 but the jury failed to agree a verdict on the murder charge.
