Handsworths Kaldip & Rajbinder Charged Over Alleged Money Laundering

A man and a woman from Handsworth Wood in Birmingham have been charged by counter-terrorism detectives over alleged money laundering and fraud offences of donated charitable funds, reports Birmingham Live. Kaldip Singh Lehal, aged 38, is best known as Deepa Singh and founded the group Sikh Youth UK.

The man is 38-year old Kaldip Singh Lehal, The woman is Rajbinder Kaur, aged 50. The pair were arrested in July by detectives from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit. The arrests were made in connection with alleged fraud offences of donated charitable funds.

Rajbinder Kaur has been charged with money laundering, six counts of theft amounting to Β£50,000 and one count under Section 60 of the Charities Act 2011 – knowingly or recklessly provide false or misleading information to the Charities Commission, reports Birmingham Live.

Kaldip Singh Lehal has been charged with one count under Section 60 of the Charities Act 2011 – knowingly or recklessly provide false or misleading information to the commission.

They have been bailed to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on October 31.
