Five members of a family were found dead in Vaibhav Khand, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. A note plastered to the wall blamed the incident on financial stress. The couple strangled their daughter and son then stabbed them to death. The husband, wife and another woman then committed suicide by jumping from the 8th floor of there apartment block.
While the wife died at the spot, the other woman was seriously injured and admitted to a hospital. However, she later succumbed to her injuries. A suicide note, posted on a wall, was recovered and it cited financial issues as the reason for their actions.
The man has been identified as 45-year-old Gulshan Vasudev who had moved to the apartment in October 2019 along with his wife Parveen and another woman Sanjana. Sanjana lived with the family for the last five years. The couple had two children — an 18-year-old girl, a Class 12th pass out, and a 13-year-old boy, who was in 9th standard. A pet rabbit was also found dead.
In the suicide note, there was a mention of certain Rakesh Verma who helped them commit suicide. He is a relative of the family. According to the police, he is likely the culprit that led to this gruesome incident.
Some money was also found and the note asked it to be used for the last rites of the family.
On December 1, the housemaid was told she would no longer be required and was dismissed. On Monday, Gulshan the husband had distributed blankets and jackets to the house help, guard, and housekeeping staff. All the clothes were new, according to Kaushal Sharma a staff of the society.
