Dhadak (2018) 🌟🌟🌟
So, this movie sees the launch of Sridevi’s daughter, Jahnvi Kapoor and Shahid Kapoors brother, Ishaan Khattar. As you can imagine, being that they are both from families that are familiar to the Indian Film Industry, there will be a lot of high expectations.
What we are given is a typical love story of boy meets girl etc ♥. A tried and tested theme which never gets old but, this movie has an alternative ending 👀.
I found the movie enjoyable but, I felt it would have been good to have seen these two newcomers in a different storyline. I found Jahnvi Kapoors performance to come across as average. I imagine there will be comparisons made with Sridevi which would be unfair. They are miles apart in terms of experience and the audience should be mindful that. Jahnvi is very young and still has a lot to learn.
Ishaan Khattar on the other hand was very impressive and possibly outshines Jahnvi in the movie👍🏻. You see him bring energy into his character and he gives it his all. He is a promising actor and one to watch out for.
The movie itself is very picturesque; there are beautiful shots of the Palaces and the beauty of Udaipur is just 👌🏻. The music for the movie is average 🎶; apart from the title track, which is quite melodious, the rest of the music score is easily forgotten. The choreography for the track Zingaat is pretty good. Both Jahnvi and Ishaan show that they can dance, with Ishaan clearly showing that he does not have two left feet 💃🕺.
Overall, this movie is worth a watch to see these young newcomers. Fingers crossed we get to see them in a different genre next time 🤞🏻. Go check it out!
3 out of 5 stars. Remember, it’s my opinion!
