Review By Raj-Bitu Kang

A movie about war, relationships, love, romance and betrayal. All set post World War Two with a predictable storyline.

The movie is based on a novel ๐Ÿ“– by Rhidian Brook and his experiences post World War Two in Germany. The film is beautifully shot ๐Ÿ˜ with the Grand House that the main characters live in, the beauty of a snow covered city, the ruins in Hamburg after the bombing and the heart-breaking depiction of the conditions that the German people are left in, during the aftermath of the war ๐Ÿ’”.

Performances are good although I’m not a big fan of Kiera Knightly. I always find her acting a little wooden ๐Ÿ™„. Saying that, I found her bearable in this movie. For me though, Jason Clarke stands out and gives a great performance ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป.

Overall, a decent movie to watch. I think if there was less focus on the romance and more focus on the aftermath of the war, this would have been a great movie. Go check it out!

3 out of 5 stars. Remember, itโ€™s my opinion!
