UPDATED 22/01.2020: A man is due to appear in court charged with manslaughter over the death of Arjun Singh. Arjun, who studied at Nottingham Trent University, died in hospital on Sunday, January 19 following an assault in Long Row, Nottingham city centre, on Saturday, January 18 at around 4am.
Mathiwos Tekle, 20, of Ryeland Gardens, Nottingham, is charged with manslaughter, robbery and supplying a controlled drug. He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 22. Two other men were arrested on Monday, January 21, in connection with Arjun’s death.
Tekle is also charged with the robbery of Mr Singh , 20, on the same date and with supplying the drug cocaine to three people.
He spoke only to give his name, date of birth, address and his nationality as Eritrean. He was represented by solicitor Helen Rooks.
Aron Kahsai, 23, of Queens Walk, Nottingham, is charged with offer to supply a controlled drug. He has been released on bail.

Updated 1: Another two men have been arrested after a university student died following an assault in Nottingham city centre. Arjun Singh, who was 20 and studying at Nottingham Trent University, was attacked on Long Row just before 4am on Saturday (18th January).
He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, but sadly died on Sunday (19th January).
A 22-year-old and a 23-year-old have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and are being questioned by police. Police also arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murder on Monday (20th January) and he is still in police custody.
Nottinghamshire Police also say that they are not treating the attack as “knife-related.”
“Both men have been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of our enquiries into this tragic incident.”
“The 20-year-old man also arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody.”
“We are aware that there has been a lot of speculation in the public around this being a knife-related incident. From the information available at this time, we are not treating this matter as knife-related.”

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 20-year-old student, Arjun Singh.
Police said Arjun Singh, who went to Nottingham Trent University, was attacked on Long Row in Nottingham just before 04:00 GMT on Saturday. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but died the next day.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody for questioning. Nottinghamshire Police said officers were continuing to appeal for witnesses.
The force said it was interested in finding two men who were seen leaving the scene on foot after the assault.
Det Insp Richard Monk said a team of detectives had been “working tirelessly” on the investigation.
“This was a serious assault which has resulted in a young man losing his life,” he said.
“If you were in the area of the Slug and Lettuce public house around 03:45 GMT on Saturday morning and have not yet spoken to the police, I would urge you to come forward.”

Nottingham Trent University has said it is “saddened ” by the death of the student.
In a post on Twitter, it said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. We will be offering support to anyone at the university who may be affected.”
