A Nigerian man climbed onto the wing of a plane as it was just about to take off in Nigeria’s Lagos city on Friday. The incident occurred at the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed International airport in Lagos. Lagos police have arrested the man.
Reports say the identified man walked towards the aircraft on the runway and jumped onto a wing of the plane. The aircraft pilot spotted the man, slowed down and later turned off the engine as the man continued to wander around the aircraft. The pilot then radioed the tarmac to report the incident.
According to the airline the man wanted to access his seat on the plane via the wings. A passenger aboard the aircraft recorded the entire episode. The video shows the man moving around the wing of the plane as frightened passengers called on the crew to open the exit doors.
Nigeria’s airport authority said the incident did not delay the flight. The plane was headed to Port Harcourt in Nigeria’s Niger Delta. However, passengers and crew members disembarked for another round of security checks.
