A California man was arrested by police in connection to the murder of a Maninder Singh Sahi. Singh worked as a 7-Eleven clerk and was shot last month during a robbery. The Whittier Police Department announced the arrest of 25-year-old Kevin Hall on March 10, 2020.
It was reported that on February 22nd, Hall entered a 7-Eleven located at 8438 Santa Fe Springs Road armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the clerk. Video surveillance from inside the store, showed the suspect firing the handgun and killing the clerk. Two customers inside the store at the time of the murder were not injured, officials said.
Hall fled from the location and was located nearly three weeks later when investigators served search warrants at two locations in Los Angeles County. Hall was subsequently arrested and charged with homicide along with his other charge for an outstanding warrant.
Hall will be arraigned on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Bellflower Court and is ineligible for bail due to his pending charges.
A Gofundme campaign to help with burial expenses for the victim identified as Maninder Singh Sahi was created by his brother in February.
According to the account, Maninder Singh Sahi is survived by his parents, brother, his wife, and two small children ages 5 and 9. His brother Harpreet Guraya said Maninder only lived in California for a short time and he never argued or raised his voice at anyone.
“I am seeking assistance to send money to his family in India so they can have a stable life and a future for the kids. This money would help with anything the family needs in India,” stated Harpreet.
