NBA Prospect Princepal Singh Begins Training In California

Earlier this week, on October 3rd, Princepal Singh arrived in San Francisco to begin training for the NBA G League Ignite – the new team that consists of elite young prospects from around the world.

Courtesy of the deal, he became the first prospect from the NBA Academy program to sign with the G League. He will go on to become the third Indian, after Satnam Singh Bhamara and Amjyot Singh, to log minutes in the G League.

His rise to being among the best teenage prospects around the world would not be possible without the NBA Academy, where he spent the last three years – 1.5 each in NBA Academy India and the Global Academy in Australia.

So, it comes as no surprise that Singh would show love to his NBA Academy family when Chris Ebersole – Senior Director, International Basketball Operations & Elite Basketball – met up with him at the airport to pick him up.

Since the historic announcement of Singh’s landmark deal with the G League on July 28th, the 19-year-old has been putting in the work to get back in shape.

As has most of the world, since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Singh went virtual to connect and train with his strength and conditioning coach from the Global Academy – Shane Connolly. He spent the majority of August and September in Ludhiana, getting into better shape before he would need to depart for the United States.

Upon clearing quarantine, Singh hit the courts in Walnut Creek, California, and began training with the player development staff of the Ignite.
