New Bride Refused To Do Chores & Threatened In-Laws Causing Husband To Commit Suicide


Another day, another shocking case from Punjab. A newly married man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Jalandhar. The police have arrested the man’s wife for abetment of suicide.

According to a report in the Indian Express (IE), the sub-inspector of Mand police post said that they had arrested man’s wife-Neeru Bhanwara on the basis of deceased’s father, Amarjit Singh’s complaint. The deceased was identified as 27-year-old, Harkamaljit Singh.

The police official told IE that a note written by the deceased stated that he had written it while he was in control of senses and of sound mind.

The note added that his wife was threatening to set his father on fire and destroy his family. The letter also mentioned that soon after their marriage, she had threatened to get the deceased’s family arrested in a harassment case.

The couple got married on January 20 and recently returned from their honeymoon in Malaysia. The note claimed that whenever Neeru was asked to do household chores, Neeru threatened to complain to the police.

However, the IE report mentioned that the woman was in constant touch with two of her male friends. One of them was jailed for a murder case and the other lived in Canada. Further investigation in the case is underway.
