The Daily Punjabi Music Wrap: Its that time of the year again! The summer has passed, if you live in the UK, the summer never arrived. But we are now into the build-up to Wedding season in India in addition to Diwali and a Christmas. This means we will have a huge amount of Punjabi music releases coming our way. We simply cannot give each one a dedicated review.
So instead, we will be going back to how we used to highlight new releases that you may have missed – The Daily Punjabi Music Wrap! Releases that we feel deserve an article on their own will still get one, but songs that people may have missed will all be put into one article. Why trawl Spotify and Youtube when we can do it for you!
So here goes with a round-up this weekends and today’s that you may have missed:
Punjabi Duet: Song Title: Risk – Shivjot, Gurlez Akhtar, Mistabaaz – Music Mistabaaz, lyrics: Shivjot
Shivjot, it has been a while since his last release. So teaming up with Gurlez Akhtar makes sense. The one surprise element during this new Punjabi song Risk? Mistabaaz on vocals. A fresh new approach to the delivery of a duet. Check out Risk by Shivjot, Gurlez Akhtar and Mista Baaz here, via T-Series Apna Punjab.
Commerical Punjabi Music: Song: Jaddi Sardar, Singer Deepak Dhillon, Music Game Boy, Lyrics Tejinder Kishanghar
Deepak Dhillon is a firm favourite of ours, but Jaddi Sardar is just too confusing for us. Lyrically it just seems quite random with catchphrases thrown in left right and centre. The production by Game Boy is just as random. A real lack of structure will see many pass up on this new song by Deepak Dhillon. Check out Jaddi Sardar by Deepak Dhillon on White Hill Music here:
Commercial Punjabi: Song Ignore Marda, Singer Satkar Sandhu, Lyrics: Nimaan Sidhu
Music: Freak Singh
One of the things that saw us attracted to this song was the fact the model Harmanjot Kaur had ginger hair! Like why, what pind are you from? Anyway that aside Satkar Sandhu does not sound too bad at all, we are new to him and he does have something. The pace of the song does suit him, so hopefully more from him soon. Check out Ignore Marda by Satkar Sandhu here:
Commercial Punjabi Pop: Song Oh Jatta, Singer: Amar Sandhu Music: Sherry Nexus Lyrics: Mani Moudgill
This, well it just makes us smile. Mainly for the wrong reasons. If you are going to use a hook line that has been used before and successfully, make sure you make it work. At least have a plan, once again it just seems that everything is thrown together. Musically Sherry Nexus delivers, the rest, well its an Oh Jatta from us to Amar Sandhu here:
Oh yeah, weed is legal in many places now so we have to ask, can we have some of what these guys are smoking? Our WTF (Why The Fukra) song of the day goes to Parth Sawhney and the song Worldwide:
