Pargan Singh Bhandal has been charged with murder following the death of his wife at a house on Trehernes Drive, Stourbridge, last month. Gian Bhandal, aged 82, was found with fatal injuries on 23 January and her death was initially treated as unexplained.
Pargan Singh Bhandal was arrested on Wednesday (5 Feb) following an investigation into the circumstances of his wife’s death. West Midlands Police arrived at the Trehernes Drive property two nights ago and held a crime scene after treating the woman’s death as suspicious.
Two police vehicles were stationed outside the home, which is flanked by pillared properties worth at least half a million pounds, and as much as £600,000.
The 82-year-old was questioned by detectives and later charged with murder. He is due to appear at Leamington Justice Centre this morning (7 Feb).
Neighbours said the Bhandal family own a string of dental surgeries across the West Midlands.
One local resident, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘Its so sad, they seemed a nice family. Their children run dental surgeries around here and are very successful.
