Just two days into her wedding, the bride (Pooja) made good her escape after stealing valuables belonging to her in-laws. Article by DEX – Daily Entertainment Xpress.
Sanjay, a resident of Jhanjhanpur, and Pooja, a resident of Bareilly got married on August 2 in Bareilly. While the family was still celebrating their marriage, the bride ran away with cash and jewellery from the house, said the police.
When Pradeep, a relative of Sanjay reached the house he found the family unconscious and he immediately rushed them to the district hospital for treatment and informed the police about the incident.
The police investigation reveals that several valuables were missing from the house. The family members also confirmed that the bride had escaped with Rs 16,000 in cash and some jewellery.
“The families of the bride and groom knew each other through a relative and the marriage was fixed for August 2. The bride had mixed intoxicants with food and served it to the family after which the entire family was unconscious,” CO (Civil Line), Rajesh Kumar said.
“We were all having a great day after the two got married. We had our food and fell asleep. Hours later, when we woke up, we realised that we were intoxicated and found that Pooja had robbed all our valuables,” Sanjay said.
“The girl belonged to a very poor family and we had given Rs 20,000 to her family before the wedding,” Rajpal, the grooms’ brother said.
The police also said that they have formed a team to get hold of the absconding bride and are further investigating the matter.
“We are in search of the bride and still investigating the matter. We will take strict action against her,” Kumar said.
