The story gets better, after impressing in training at Bayern Munich. Sarpreet Singh will get to rub shoulders with some of Europe’s footballing elite after New Zealand’s rising star was included in Bayern Munich’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.
Despite signing a three-year contract with the club’s reserve team, a spokesperson for the Bundesliga champions confirmed to Daily Ent. Xpress that Singh would travel with Bayern’s first team to the US, where they are set to play Real Madrid, Arsenal and AC Milan in next week’s International Champions Cup pre-season tournament.
The travelling squad features most of Bayern’s biggest stars, including Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer, as well as record signing Lucas Hernandez, who recently transferred from Atletico Madrid for a whopping $134 million.
Initially expecting to bide his time in Bayern’s reserve team, who play in Germany’s third-tier 3.Liga competition, Singh’s inclusion in an extended squad provides the former Wellington Phoenix player with an immediate opportunity to impress coach Niko Kovac.
Do that and he could make his debut in one of the three pre-season hit-outs, which are against world-class opposition, in Los Angeles, Houston or Kansas City.
