Simranjit “Steven” Singh and his girlfriend were arrested in after staging a robbery at a 7-Eleven in Rancho Cucamonga (California). The robbery was apparently staged by himself! Well, the loot was found at his house.
The male suspect, 25-year-old Simranjit “Steven” Singh of Fontana, called 911 at about 9:45 PM on Sunday, January 12th. According to the release, Singh reported that he was “just robbed at gunpoint by an unknown male,” at his place of employment, a 7-Eleven located at 7900 Haven Avenue.
Rancho Cucamonga police responded to investigate but became suspicious when evidence at the scene did not match up with Singh’s claims about the incident. Further investigation revealed that the criminal responsible for the robbery was not an an armed “unknown male,” as Singh reported, but rather his girlfriend, 33-year-old Nichole King of Fontana.
Four days later, officers located and arrested both Singh and King at Singh’s home. A search of the residence bore evidence showing that both individuals were responsible for the robbery.
“It was found that Singh and King planned the staged robbery in an attempt to steal money from Singh’s employer,” according to the release.
Singh and King were both charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and booked at West Valley Detention Center. “King is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. Singh is being held without bail,” according to the release.
Both were scheduled to face charges in court on Wednesday, January 22nd.
