Some may say that the Punjabi Govt. and Police are cracking down on the promotion of guns in songs. But, in reality, the schoolboy like behaviour of some artists is seeing more and more being investigated. The latest to feel the heat from the Punjab Police is Punjabi singer Singga.
A video posted on his own Snapchat shows Singga sitting in a car with his friend who then discharges a gun. This at a time when Police and the public are jumping on such things is a major own goal. The video shows the pair laughing and enjoying the moment. This has led to police investigating the issue.
Singga has amassed a cult-like following in Punjab among the youth. His mix of extremely macho videos and ballads have seen him grow as a celebrity in Punjab over the last few years. The police investigating him will not come as a surprise to many, but he will have his backers no matter what he does. Check out the video that has caused the controversy here:
Sidhu Moose Wala and Mankirt Aulakh were the first two artists to be dragged in by the Punjab Police. It was over the issue of promoting guns in their music. The pair had been given warnings prior, but, after the warnings were ignored they were dragged before the Punjab Police. Sippy Gill who jumped on the Sidhu Moose Wala bandwagon, Is also been investigated. Sippy Gills publicity stunts calling out Sidhu Moose Wala and Mankirt Aulakh really have backfired.
