Teri Meri Gal Ban Gayi – Jatinder Dhiman Sahotas Cover

One of the UK’s most innovative Punjabi bands without a doubt was Wolverhampton’s The Sahotas. They not only played to huge crowds of Punjabi’s but also took their sound and vision to non-Asian crowds. A reggae flavour saw the band gain mass appeal. Now one of Punjab’s current leading folk singers has covered their song Teri Meri Gal Ban Gayi. This is a part of the Jatinder Dhiman live band series.

Jatinder Dhiman has spoken highly of his love of the UK band scene and this is him paying homage to one of his favourite tracks from back in the day. The Sahotas version was a great hit not just here in the UK bit in the south of India and Punjab. This new Punjabi Folk band series is something that the scene really needs. Folk musicians like Jatinder Dhiman are not huge commercially, but the talent these artists possess outshines so many of today’s so-called big stars. Good look to Jatinder Dhiman and his new Independent venture!!

Two weeks ago Jatinder Dhiman dropped an Amar Singh Chamkila cover ‘Bab Tera Nankana’. The song was dedicated to Guru Nanak’s Dev Ji’s 550th Birth anniversary. This cover got plenty of love and helped throw Dhiman back into the public eye.
