The Sabji Hunters 10 Thirst Quenching Non Alcoholic Drinks (Lassi/Smoothies/Chach)

Xpress I will share with you 10 drinks that are easy to make and will quench your thirst. Summer is the perfect time to shed layers of clothes and some extra pounds. Dehydration is the most common problem we face during the summer. There are some natural ways to deal with this problem by drinking lots of water, eating citrus fruits and having green leafy vegetables. To top it all, you can have lots of yogurt to beat the scorching heat. Yogurt is an excellent probiotic that has a cooling effect on the body and helps with digestion. Yogurt or curd is whipped into various refreshing drinks with different flavours and ingredients. Here is the list of yogurt-based drinks you could try out to keep the heat away this summer.

Vanilla Lassi

Add the yogurt to a blender.
Add the vanilla extract, cold water and sugar.
Blend well for 30 seconds or until well combined.
Add the ginger and blend again for another 30 seconds.
Pour into individual serving glasses.
Garnish with rose petals and serve chilled

Sweet Lassi

2 cup yoghurt (curd)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup ice cubes
1 cup chilled water
1/2 cup sugar
2 drops rose essence

Blend together the strawberries and watermelon until smooth.
Add the yogurt, sugar and blend again until combined.
Pour this into a chilled glass.
Add 2 to 3 ice cubes (or more) and garnish with a mint sprig.
Serve chilled.

Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie

15 pieces strawberry
2 cup yoghurt (curd)
2 sprigs mint leaves
2 cup watermelon
1/4 cup sugar
5 ice cubes

Blend together the strawberries and watermelon until smooth.
Add the yogurt, sugar and blend again until combined.
Pour this into a chilled glass.
Add 2 to 3 ice cubes (or more) and garnish with a mint sprig.
Serve chilled.

Strawberry Banana Yogurt Smoothie

160 gm low fat yoghurt
1 banana
1 tablespoon strawberry essence
1 cup strawberry
1 cup ice cubes

Add all the ingredients in a blender jar and blend till smooth. Serve immediately.

Raita Smoothie

2 medium cucumber
2 sprigs mint
3 tablespoon pomegranate seeds
3/4 cup yoghurt (curd)
1 pinch black salt
5 drops lemon juice

Combine all ingredients except pomegranate.
Blend until smooth.
Add a couple of ice cubes if too thick
In the end, just add the pomegranate seeds till they are lightly crushed.
Serve chilled.

Pudina Lassi

5 tablespoon mint leaves
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 ice cubes
1 1/2 cup yoghurt (curd)
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
3 cup water

Wash and finely chop mint leaves. Put yogurt, mint, cumin seeds and salt in a blender. Blend for a few seconds.
Add chilled water and ice cubes. Blend till frothy. Serve sprinkled with a pinch of ground, roasted cumin seeds and garnished with finely chopped mint.
Serve cold.

Pear and Cinnamon Smoothie

1/2 cup yoghurt (curd)
3/4 tablespoon Honey
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 medium pear
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon lime juice

Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Transfer into a serving glass and garnish with pear slice.
Sprinkle a little cinnamon powder and serve.

Masala Chach (Chaas)

250 gm yoghurt (curd)
1 green chilli
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup coriander leaves
1 teaspoon cumin powder
750 ml water
1 teaspoon black salt
1/3 cup mint leaves
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
10 cubes ice cubes

In a grinding jar, add chopped coriander and mint leaves (leave a little for garnishing) along with green chilli and 2 tbsp water, and coarsely grind it.
Put curd, roasted cumin powder, black salt, black pepper and salt in the same grinding jar.
Now add 250 ml water and grind all the ingredients for a few seconds.
Transfer the blended curd in a big bowl, add the remaining water and stir it well.
Now add little salt, cumin powder and black salt in the bowl, and mix it well.
Add ice cubes and garnish it with mint leaves. Serve chilled.

Mango Mint Lassi

2 medium mango
2 cup ice cubes
1/2 cup yoghurt (curd)
4 sprigs mint leaves
1 teaspoon honey
1/4 cup orange juice

Peel the mango and roughly chop it in a bowl. Next, add these chopped mangoes in a blender jar along with yoghurt, orange juice, honey and ice cubes. Blend well until smooth.
Once the mangoes are pureed well, the lassi is prepared. Transfer to desired glasses and garnish with mint leaves. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Almond Rooh Afza Lassi

2 cup yoghurt (curd)
2 cup water
2 tablespoon almonds
2 cup milk
2 tablespoon rose syrup

For making almond rooh afza lassi, blend in curd, milk, water and sugar in a blender.
Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or water if you find it very thick or sourness is more. Once done, remove in a big bowl.
Add in rose syrup(Rooh Afza) and mix check for sugar, sourness add more ingredients which suits your taste best.
Refrigerate the drink and mix in almonds(roasted) before serving chilled.
